Chabo Hayamegawa (Inohara Hardware Store)
Inohara Hardware Store, a limited partnership, was established in 1877 and continues to this day. In 2003, the building was designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.
In 1998, a teahouse “Hayamegawa” was built inside the hardware store. The tea house has a spring water source of 150 liters per minute from 110 meters underground, and the water is used for all dishes in the restaurant. The restaurant offers spring-fresh coffee, green powdered tea, zenzai (sweetened red bean paste), kanzarashi (sweetened red bean paste), and vegetable curry made from fresh local vegetables, we also serve vegetable curry using fresh local vegetables and pork cutlet curry using “Momiji-buta” (maple leaf pig), a Shimabara brand pig.
*Zoni with other ingredients is available only on Saturdays and Sundays (or on weekdays when soup stock is available).
In the courtyard, endangered Japanese stone tortoises are free-range. Enjoy a moment of relaxation while watching the turtles, listening to the sound of water, and admiring the scenery, please spend a relaxing moment while watching the turtles, listening to the sound of water, and admiring the scenery.
We look forward to welcoming you.
