We introduce the charms of Shimabara
in various genres such as nature, history, and scenery.

Shimabara Onsen

Shimabara Onsen adopted a centralized hot spring management system in 1967(42th years Syowa), which is rare in Japan, and supplies hot spring water to hotels, inns, and some individuals in the city. There are three sources of hot spring water: Moto-ike source, Moto-ike No.2 source, and Kannonjima source. Currently, the hot spring is supplied by mixing hot water from two sources, the Motoike source and the Kannonjima source, which have a daily capacity of approximately 500 tons at a spring temperature of 30.1°C.

Features of Shimabara Onsen

Shimabara Onsen is clear and colorless (although in some facilities, the hot spring water may turn yellow when it comes in contact with the air), and because it is neutral, it is gentle on the skin and can be bathed in without resistance. It is especially effective for cuts, burns, and chronic skin diseases. It is also effective not only for bathing but also for drinking for chronic digestive diseases, diabetes, gout, and liver diseases. There are 7 drinking fountains located in the city, so you can enjoy the hot spring at your leisure.
