Mt. Unzen Disaster Memorial Hall (Gamadasu Dome)

See, Experience, Play, Learn, and Relax at the Volcano
Gamadas Dome, Japan’s first hands-on volcano museum, is a fun and educational destination for the whole family. In recent years, with increasing awareness of natural disasters and disaster prevention, this facility offers a valuable opportunity to learn how to be prepared. The Permanent Exhibition allows visitors to relive the 1990 eruption of Mount Unzen’s Fugen Peak through cutting-edge technology like projection mapping and drone footage.

Kids’ Geo Park
The indoor Kids’ Geo Park is the perfect place to play, even on rainy days. With trampolines, a climbing wall, and more, children can experience the dynamic forces of the Earth and the appeal of the Unzen volcano through full-body play. There’s also a dedicated area for babies and toddlers.

Other Exhibits
Inside the museum, you’ll also find a popular café that features local Shimabara ingredients. The Shimabara Peninsula UNESCO Global Geopark Information Area showcases exhibits and information about geoparks around the world and across Japan, using large screens to present content in a clear and engaging way.
