Temporary Exhibition: “Phantom Shimabara Cotton” – The Legacy of Indigo Dye
The special exhibition “Phantom Shimabara Cotton” – Spinning the Indigo Dye will be held at the Shimabara Castle Tourism and Reconstruction Memorial Hall (2nd Floor Exhibition Hall) from Saturday, September 20 to Sunday, October 19.
The exhibition features valuable folk cultural assets, including kimonos made of stripe and kasuri (ikat) weave, as well as weaving sample books. Don’t miss the live loom weaving demonstrations by the Shimabara Cotton Preservation Society.
