Shimabara Mayuyama Road opened on March 21, 2000, it is an 8-kilometer road that bypasses Mayuyama (Mt. mayuyama) behind Shimabara City and passes close to Heisei Shinzan (Mt. Heisei Shinzan), the newest mountain in Japan. Along the route is the “Heisei Shinzan Observation Park, where visitors can experience dynamic natural activities such as pyroclastic flows and debris flows, and powerful volcano sightseeing such as the largest erosion control dams in Japan.
