Himematsuya Main Restaurant
Himematsuya Honten is located in front of the entrance to Shimabara Castle, and is the birthplace of “Guzoni”.
The origin of this restaurant is an anecdote that Amakusa Shiro, who fought in a castle on top of Shimabara Castle during the Shimabara Rebellion, fought for three months with ingredients from the mountains and the sea and rice cakes as food for his soldiers. Based on this story, in 1813, the first generation “Koujiya Kiemon” devised and reproduced the taste of “Guzoni”.
